Emails
The letters your app sends, how they look, and your own sending domain.
The letters the app sends on its own: confirming an account, resetting a password, an invitation, a sign-in link, a change of email, a notice to the old address, a password code, and the confirmation of a form. Each one is described, can be read as it arrives, and can be sent to yourself as a test. They go out in the language of the app, with the app's name in the subject, and each one counts as an integration credit.
By default they come from "your app via Setherion", from a Setherion address. You can change how they look and, on a paid plan, who they come from.
When 10% or more of an app's letters bounce, or 2% or more are marked as spam, its letters stop on their own. They are judged over the last 7 days, once at least 20 have gone out, and spam needs at least 2 complaints. Every app sends from the same address, and letters that do not arrive hurt all of them. A red banner, Letters are paused, says why. An admin presses Resume letters to start again, which also restarts the count. Left alone, letters start again by themselves as the bad ones leave the 7 days.
How many letters an app may send
| Plan | Per hour | Per day |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 30 | 100 |
| Pro | 500 | 2,000 |
| Business | 3,000 | 10,000 |
The cap is per app and counts all letters together. Past the hour or the day, none go out until it turns, and the letter shows in Delivery as Held back. Tests count too.
The letters, and how long their links last
| Letter | Notes |
|---|---|
| Email confirmation | Sent on sign-up when confirmation is on. |
| Password reset | The link is good for 1 hour. |
| Invitation | The link works once and lasts 7 days. |
| Sign-in link | Good once, for 1 hour. |
| Email change | Sent to the new address, good for 24 hours. |
| Email change notice | Sent to the old address. |
| Form confirmation | Sent to the person who used a form. |
| Password change code | A 6-digit code. |
Send me a test sends the letter to your own address, marked as a test. It uses one credit, needs someone who can edit the app, and does not count towards the bounce and spam health. If it has not arrived in a minute or two, look in spam.
Delivery: what happened to each letter
Tiles show Sent, Delivered, Bounced, Marked as spam, Held back and Failed over the last 30 days, and a list shows the newest 50 with the kind of letter, who it went to and when. Delivery reports arrive only for the live site, not the preview.
Look: colour, logo and language
Admins can change how the letters look. Button colour is Setherion's dark, the app's own colour read from its code, one of six presets or any colour you choose. Logo goes at the top of every letter: a PNG or JPG up to 5 MB, shown on white. Language is the language of the letters and of the pages they open. It follows the app's screens unless you choose English, Romanian, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch or Polish.
Your own sending domain
On Pro you can have one sending domain for all your apps, and on Business five. Type yourcompany.com and the letters come from noreply@notify.yourcompany.com, as "Your app", not "via Setherion". The domain is always a notify. address under yours.
Copy the DNS records the page shows into where you bought the domain, then press Check records. New records usually show within minutes and sometimes take up to 48 hours. Until it is verified the letters stay "via Setherion". A DMARC record is shown as recommended. Use for this app turns it on for the app, Stop using it for this app turns it off, and Remove domain takes it off every app. Only an admin can add or use one, and the account that pays for the app owns it. This is separate from the domain of the website: see Custom domains.
Your own words
Once a verified domain of your own is sending, you can write the words of five letters: confirmation, password reset, invitation, sign-in link and email change. Each has a Subject (120 characters), a Heading (120), a Text (600) and a Button (40). Leave a field empty to keep Setherion's words. Write {app} where the app's name goes. Web addresses are not allowed in the words, and the line under the button stays Setherion's because it says how long the link lasts. The notice to the old address, the password code and the form confirmation always keep Setherion's words.
