Change your app

History

Every version of your app, named by the change that made it: which one is live, going back to any of them, and milestones, the versions you keep for good.

Every change to your app is kept as a version, named by what it did. Nothing you asked for is ever lost: if a change made things worse, you can go back to the version before it.

Open History, at the top of the editor beside My Projects.

The versions

  • A version after each change, named by what the change did.
  • A safety copy before each change, named Before an edit, so the state you started from is there too.

They are grouped by the question you usually start with:

GroupWhat is in it
Unpublished changesWhat changed since you last published. Not published yet when the app has never been.
PublishedThe versions that went online. LIVE marks the one online now.

A version that did not build is marked as such, so you know not to go back to it.

Go back to a version

The curved arrow on a version, Restore this version, puts the whole app back the way it was at that moment, after asking first. Where you are now is kept as a version too, so you can come forward again.

Going back changes the app in the editor. Publish to put it online.

The ⋮ on a version has Go to message: it takes you to the message in the chat that made it.

For the changes of this session, the undo and redo arrows above the preview are quicker. See Preview.

Milestones

History keeps the thirty most recent versions, and older ones are cleared out as new ones come. A milestone is a version you chose to keep: it is never cleared out.

  • The flag on a version marks it as a milestone, or takes the mark away. The version card in the chat has the same flag.
  • Milestones, the second tab, lists them all.
  • The pencil gives a milestone a name of its own, like "Before the redesign".

Mark the version you are happy with before a big change. Whatever happens next, it is one click away.
