Change your app

Assets

One library of every picture, video and 3D model you have put into your apps: where to open it, how to upload, use a file in another app, see where it is used, and what deleting does. The space your plan gives you.

Assets keeps every picture, video and 3D model you have put into your apps in one place. Upload a logo or a set of photos once and use it in any app, instead of uploading it again each time.

What is in Assets

  • Pictures and videos you upload in the editor, on the Assets page, or by attaching them to a message.
  • Pictures and videos Setherion makes for you with Generate image and Generate video. See Media and design tools.
  • Your logo and your site icon, game art, and the pictures that come in with a catalogue.
  • 3D models you uploaded for your games, shown so you can see them. See Games.

Your profile picture and a workspace's picture are not in Assets. They count towards your space, but they are not files for your apps.

Open it

There are three ways in, and they open the same page.

FromHow
The dashboardAssets in the menu on the left, under Templates
The editorThe Setherion cube at the top left, then Assets. The page opens over your app, so you do not leave it
SearchPress Ctrl K (Cmd K on a Mac) and type assets

The folder icon marks it in each place. Back, at the top left of the page, takes you to where you were. If you reload while it is open, it is still open.

The page

Files are shown as tiles, newest first.

  • Filters at the top: All, Images, Videos, 3D models and Not used, each with the number of files in it. See Make room.
  • Search by name finds a file by the words in its name.
  • Upload opens your files. You can also drop pictures and videos on the page.
  • Under each tile are its size and where it is used, for example Used in 2 apps (1 online), 1 template, or Not used in an app. Online means the app is published and its visitors see the file.
  • Select several at once with the box in a tile's corner, to delete them together. See Delete several at once.
  • At the top right, the space you use against your plan's limit.

Pictures are made smaller before they are stored, as in the editor, so they load fast in your app and take less of your space.

What you can upload
WhatFormatsSize
A picturePNG, JPEG, WebP or GIFUp to 8 MB
A videoMP4, WebM or MOVUp to 50 MB

A file over the limit is not uploaded, and the page says so. 3D models are added in your game's Game art, not here.

One file

Click a tile to open the file. You see it large, with:

  • its kind, size and date, and the app it was uploaded in when it is an older file;
  • Used in: every app and every template you published that has the file in it. Click an app to open it;
  • Copy link, the address the file is stored at, to use anywhere;
  • Download, to save it on your computer;
  • Delete.

Anyone with a file's link can open it. That is how the pictures in your published apps are shown to visitors, so do not upload a file you want to keep private.

Use a file in an app

Wherever Setherion lets you add a picture or a video, Upload has Assets beside it, each in its own frame. Upload takes a file from your computer. Assets opens your library, with a folder icon.

When you start an app

On the dashboard, press + under the box where you describe the app, then Assets. Choose up to three pictures and press Use. They are attached to your description, and the build uses them as they are.

In the chat

In the editor, press + beside the box at the foot of the chat, then Assets. Choose up to three pictures and press Use. They join your next message, and you say what to do with them: "put this logo in the header".

On a picture or a video you click

In the preview, press Edit, then click the picture or the video you want to change. Image and Video each have Upload and Assets at the top. Choose one file and press Use, and it takes the place of the one you clicked.

In each, the window shows only what fits: pictures for a picture, videos for a video. It has its own Upload, so you can add a file without leaving it.

A file you choose is used where it is already stored. It is not uploaded a second time, so it takes no more of your space.

Where new files go

Everything you upload or generate in the editor is stored in your own library, not in the folder of the app you were in. Deleting an app therefore leaves its pictures where they are, and a picture also used by another app does not disappear from it.

Files from before Assets existed are still in the folder of the app they were uploaded for, and they are listed too, marked with the app's name. Those are still deleted along with their app.

Delete a file

Press Delete on a file. What happens next depends on whether an app uses it.

  • Not used anywhere Setherion can see: you are asked once before it goes.
  • Used: Setherion names the apps and templates first, for example "It is used in: Maison Aurelia (online)", and you choose Delete anyway or keep it. (online) marks a published app: its visitors will see an empty space where the picture was, until you change it in the app.

A deleted file cannot be brought back.

Delete several at once

As in All apps, tick the small box in the corner of a picture or a video (it shows when you point at the tile, and is always there on a phone). Once one is ticked, a click on any tile ticks it too, and a bar appears at the foot of the page.

  • Shift selects a range. Tick one, then hold Shift and click another: every picture and video between them is ticked, in the order of the page. Shift on one that is already ticked unticks the range.
  • Select all ticks every picture and video you can see. It does not take the ones a filter or a search is hiding, and it never takes a 3D model.
  • Delete asks once for the whole lot, and the button waits until you type the word delete, because several files at once cannot be brought back and are easy to over-pick. A single file only asks you to confirm. If some of the files are used, the question names where, for example "2 of them are used in: Maison Aurelia, Atelier Lune". Setherion looks again when you press Delete, so the places are current, and says so if it could not check.
  • Cancel, or Escape, drops the selection. Changing the filter or typing in the search does too, so a file you cannot see is never deleted by mistake.

If one file cannot be deleted, the others still go, and the message says how many stayed. Those stay ticked.

What Setherion cannot see

Used in reads the code of your apps, their site icon and the templates you published. It cannot read an app's data: a product with a picture that you added in Manage, or the logo set for an app's emails. A file used only there shows Not used in an app, and deleting it breaks that picture. The question before a delete says so, so look at those places first if you are not sure.

Templates other people made from yours are copies of their own, and are not looked at either.

3D models cannot be deleted from Assets, because your games load them. The file shows Kept for your games.

Make room

When your space runs low, the safe files to delete are the ones no app uses. Choose Not used at the top of the page: it shows the pictures and videos that are not in the code of your apps, their icons or your templates, the biggest first, and says how much room they take together. Select all, then Delete, frees that room without changing any app.

Not used cannot see an app's data, such as a product added in Manage, so look there first if you keep pictures in it. If Setherion cannot check where your files are used at that moment, it lists nothing rather than guess.

When every file is in use, there are two ways to make room: change a picture in its app first (in Edit, click it, then Assets) and then delete the old one, or choose a plan with more space.

Your space

The bar at the top of the page shows how much you have stored, and your plan's limit.

PlanSpace for pictures, videos and 3D models
Free100 MB
Pro, Business and Enterprise20 GB

When you are close to the limit, the bar turns red. Delete files you no longer use to make room. Your profile pictures count too. See Plans and limits.

Deleting your account deletes everything in Assets. Until then your files are kept, even after you delete the apps that used them. See the Privacy Policy.

Questions

I uploaded a picture in an app and cannot find it

Search for its name, or choose Images. Pictures from before Assets existed are listed too, and say which app they were uploaded in. If the page is empty, upload a file, or add a picture in the editor: it will appear here.

I deleted an app. Are its pictures gone?

The ones uploaded or generated since Assets arrived stay, in your library. Older ones were stored with the app, and are deleted with it.

Can my team see my assets?

No. Assets lists only the files you uploaded or generated yourself, and each person has their own. Used in does name the apps of your workspaces that use a file, so you know before you delete it. See Workspaces.

Does using a file in another app cost credits?

No. Choosing a file from Assets costs nothing. Generating a new picture or video does, and the price is on the button before anything is spent. See Media and design tools.
