Manage your app
Payments
Manage, then Payments: what the check found in your checkout, what the app sells, the orders Stripe recorded, refunds, and connecting Stripe, Paddle or PayPal.
Payments is where an app takes money: open Manage, then Payments. It shows what your app's checkout really does, what it sells, and the orders that were paid.
For setting up a shop from the start, see Online stores.
What the check found
Setherion reads the checkout in your app's code, and a problem in it is said at the top of the page, with the fix:
| Warning | What it means | The fix |
|---|---|---|
| Orders reach you as requests | Buyers send you their order, and nothing in the app takes a payment. | Tell buyers how they will pay, on delivery or by invoice, or connect a real checkout. |
| Nobody is charged at checkout | Buyers can finish checking out, and nothing takes a payment. | Make it an order request, or connect a real checkout. |
| Card details are asked for on your page | The app has its own card number, expiry and CVC fields. Nothing is charged there, and card details must never be typed into an app's own form. | Remove the card fields. |
A button like Use Stripe for checkout puts the change in the chat, for you to read and send. Each warning says in which file it saw the problem.
What this app sells
The products and plans the app charges for, added straight to your Stripe account. It shows once Stripe is connected. Add asks for a name, a price, the currency, and One-off, Monthly or Yearly, then Add to Stripe. The pencil changes a name or a price, and the cross stops selling it.
Changing a price, or stopping a sale
Stripe cannot change a price once it exists, so changing what something costs makes a new price and retires the old one. Renaming changes nothing else. The buy buttons Setherion builds look the price up by product name when someone clicks, so they follow the change. Setherion asks you to confirm before it changes a price.
Stopping a sale takes the product off this list and off what Setherion is told. Anything already sold keeps its record, but a buy button that points at that price stops working until you point it at another.
The currencies offered are the common ones, such as pounds, euros and dollars, and the currency of your own Stripe account is chosen for you to start with. Yen and other currencies with no smaller unit take whole numbers.
Setherion is told what is here, so "add a buy button for the jacket" uses the right product. A checkout can only charge prices that exist in this list.
Best suited to digital goods and subscriptions. Checkout can take a delivery address and charge for postage, but Setherion does not keep stock: Orders knows paid and refunded, not packed and sent. For physical goods you track that yourself.
Orders
Every paid order, with who paid, when, and how much. An order is written by Stripe when a payment really goes through, not when a browser comes back, so nothing here is a purchase that did not happen.
Refund gives the money back, after asking you to confirm the amount and the buyer. It cannot be undone from Setherion. The order stays in the list, crossed out and marked refunded. A buyer who paid without an account shows as a guest. Orders are kept even when the app has used up its stored records, so a paid order is never lost.
Stripe and Paddle
At the foot of the page, each payment service says whether it is connected.
| When to choose it | |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Card payments, subscriptions, a checkout page hosted by Stripe, refunds and invoices. The flexible all-rounder. |
| Paddle | It sells as the seller, so VAT and sales tax are handled for you. Worth it when you sell across borders. |
| PayPal | Buy buttons you make in your own PayPal account, each with its own price. Buyers pay by PayPal or card in PayPal's own window. |
Under the services, the page says whether your app has a checkout, read from its code, and in which files the payment code was found.
Connect Stripe / Paddle sets one up: for Stripe, a form on Stripe's own site and no key to copy. Ask AI to add payments puts a request in the chat for a pricing section with a working checkout, on whichever service you connected. Once the app has a checkout, the buttons become Ask AI to change payments, which first explains what the current flow does, and Check the payment flow, which reviews it.
With PayPal, the price lives on the button in your PayPal account, so nobody who opens the page can change what they pay. You give Setherion the public client ID and the currency, and the buttons by their ids. See Payments and stores.
The money goes straight into your own Stripe or Paddle account, and refunds, disputes and taxes are handled in its dashboard. Setherion never holds it.
