Troubleshooting and FAQ

Answers to the questions people ask most: a blank preview, a build that stopped, a change that did nothing, broken pictures, sign-in and emails on a published app, domains, credits, payments, taking your code with you, and where to ask for help.

Most problems have a short answer. Open the question that sounds like yours. If none does, describe what you see in the app's chat: Setherion looks into it and fixes it like any other change. For anything else, see Where to ask for help.

The preview and the build

The preview is blank, or will not start

Look at what is on screen before you do anything else.

  • A red card saying Could not compile this project. The app has an error that stops it from running. The lines below it say what. Copy them into the chat, or tell Setherion what you see, and it is fixed like any other change.
  • A bar saying Preview hit a runtime error. The app started and then crashed. Fix with AI, on the bar, writes the request for you. It is paid like any change.
  • Nothing at all. Press the Reload preview arrow at the left of the box above the preview. See Preview.

Before an app is shown to you it is opened out of sight and checked, and one that crashes is repaired first, so a blank first look is rare. See the next question.

A build ended with an error, or stopped partway

Every build and every change is opened out of sight before you see it. While that happens the status line says Testing the app. If the app crashes, it is sent back and repaired, up to three times, at no cost to you, and tested again. What is on screen stays as it was until the new version passes.

If a change still leaves the app unable to build, it is not charged: the credits go back to you. Say what happened in the chat, or press Fix with AI on the bar if one appears.

On the editor's empty screen, a card that says That build stopped partway means a run ended before it finished. Ask for the same thing again. See Build, Chat and Plan.

The app is wider than a phone screen

After every build and every change the app is measured at a phone's width. If something sticks out, a bar says Wider than a phone screen, with Fix with AI. To look yourself, open the size menu above the preview and choose Mobile. See Preview.

How do I stop a build?

While a build or a change is running, the send button in the box becomes a square. Press it to stop. The run ends at its next step, writes nothing into your app, and its credits are given back.

You do not have to wait on the page. If you reload, close the tab or lock your phone, the run carries on and lands in your app. A small card, Building your app or Working on your change, has its own Stop button, and can tell you when it is done.

Changing your app

A change wiped part of my page

An edit that would delete a large part of the app is refused before it lands: a file that shrinks by about 40% or more is put back as it was, and so is an edit that drops that much of the whole app. The only exception is when you asked for something to be removed. The steps of the change show a warning such as Edit would have deleted page content, original preserved. Ask again more precisely, for example "just change the colour of the top bar".

If something was lost anyway:

  • Undo this change, under the change in the chat, takes back that change.
  • Undo and Redo, above the preview, step through this session's changes.
  • History keeps every version, named by what it did. Restore this version goes back to one, and where you were stays in History, so you can come forward again.

See History.

Setherion said it was done, but nothing changed

When Setherion cannot confirm that a change landed, the tick under the message turns amber and the message says what really happened instead of the cheerful line. Ask again, naming the exact place: "in the header, make the Book button blue". Changing one thing at a time works best. See How to ask.

A picture is broken or missing

Before an app is handed over, Setherion checks the photos it uses and swaps any that do not exist for ones that do. A broken picture in the preview shows in the issues pill at the top right of the preview, with Fix with AI.

To change a picture yourself, turn on Edit above the preview, click it, and choose Image. To see every picture the app uses, open Code, then the Images folder. For a new one, ask in the chat, or use Media AI in the + menu to make one with AI. See Preview and Media and design tools.

The app is in the wrong language

An app speaks the language you wrote the request in, and a later change keeps the language the app is already in. To make it speak another, say so: "Translate the whole app to French". To make a language stick for every app, write it as a rule. See Write in your own language and AI Controls.

Published apps

The published app is different from the preview
  • A change is not live until you publish again. Edits in the editor reach the live app only when you press Publish. History marks the changes that are not published yet.
  • The old version still shows. Your browser kept it. Hard refresh with Ctrl+Shift+R.
  • Sign-in and data are the real ones. The published app uses its real accounts and data, so sample data you saw in the preview may not be there.
  • Ads and purchases in a game are pretend in the preview, and hidden on the website. They are real only in the phone app. See Games.
  • A private app asks people to sign in to the workspace first. See Publish to the web.
Sign-in on my published app does not work

Open Manage, then Cloud, then Users.

  • The person is listed there. Sign-in itself worked, and the app's screens are what to fix. Tell the chat what happens after signing in.
  • Nobody new can join. Check Sign-in settings: Allow new signups, Email and password and Google sign-in must be on for what you offer. A change applies to the published app straight away.
  • They never get the confirmation email. With Require email confirmation on, new accounts must open a link in their inbox. See the next question.
  • The Google button does nothing. It opens in a pop-up, so the browser must allow pop-ups. It needs no setup from you, and it works on the published site and in the preview. It does not work inside the app's phone version from the stores, where people sign in with an email and a password.
  • The app has no sign-in at all. Users then says This app has no login, with Ask AI to add accounts.

There are no redirect addresses or Google keys to set up for an app made here. Only an app on your own Supabase is different: Google is turned on in that Supabase project. See Cloud.

The emails from my forms or sign-ups do not arrive
  • Form messages. Every message is kept in Manage, then Cloud, then Forms, so nothing is lost. The email about each one goes to the address of your Setherion account, not to the address the visitor typed, and Email me about each message must be on. Look in your spam folder too.
  • Letters are paused. An app's letters stop on their own when more than 10% bounce or 2% are marked as spam. Manage, then Cloud, then Emails says Letters are paused, and Resume letters starts them again. The usual cause is sign-ups from a script with made-up addresses.
  • The daily limit. Each plan caps the letters an app sends: Free 100 a day, Pro 2,000, Business 10,000. Past the limit, none go out until the hour or the day turns. Emails shows your limit.
  • A visitor's limit. One visitor can send 10 form messages an hour, and an app takes 300 a day.
  • Test it. Send me a test, in Emails, sends you a letter the way the app sends it.

See Cloud and Cloud.

My custom domain will not connect
  • Is it a paid plan? Free has no custom domain. Pro includes 3 and Business 25, counted across all your apps.
  • Was the app published first? A domain points at something published.
  • Are the records in place? Add the A record and the CNAME where you bought the domain, and remove any AAAA records, which can block the connection.
  • Did you wait? DNS can take a few minutes, and up to two or three days. Press Verify Domain again later. The setherion.app address works the whole time.
  • Is the name allowed? Names under setherion.com and setherion.app cannot be connected.
  • In a workspace, connecting a domain is for owners and admins.

See Custom domains.

Credits and payments

I am out of credits

When a change or a build does not fit, the strip over the box says so, and nothing is changed: the app stays exactly as it was. It says what the run needed and what you have, and when your credits refill. The choices are to wait for the month to turn, buy extra credits (on a paid plan) or move up a plan. Where the plan has a model picker, a smaller model costs less.

Your balance sits beside Publish in the editor, and in Settings, then Plan and credits. Unused credits carry over for one month.

  • On somebody else's app, the credits come from the person who created it. If they are out, the strip says the app's owner is out of credits, and your own credits are untouched.
  • Published apps do not go dark. They use a separate allowance, integration credits, and past the limit only new writes, calls and emails stop.

See Plans and credits.

Where do I see what I spent?

The price of an AI image or video, an SEO review, a game art drawing, an import or a stronger build mode is on its button, or under the box, before you press. Each message in the chat shows what it cost in its menu. What a published app spent is under Manage, then Cloud, then Usage. See Plans and credits.

Payments: my shop charges nobody, or a warning appeared

Manage, then Payments, reads your checkout and says at the top what it found, with the fix:

  • Nobody is charged at checkout. Buyers can finish checking out and nothing takes a payment. Connect Stripe, or choose Make it an order request for payment on delivery or by invoice.
  • Card details are asked for on your page. The app has its own card number fields. Nothing is charged there, and card numbers must never be typed into an app's own form. Remove the card fields.
  • Orders reach you as requests. Buyers send you their order and nothing takes a payment.

Stripe also looks at the live site before it accepts you, so publish the shop first. See Payments and Online stores.

A paid order is missing from Orders

An order is written when Stripe says the payment went through, not when the buyer comes back to your page, so an order is never there unless it was paid. If a payment is missing, check that Stripe is connected under Manage, then Payments, and that the price was added under What this app sells. A checkout can only charge prices that exist there. See Payments.

Your code and your account

How do I get my code out?

On a paid plan:

  • Download ZIP, the folder icon beside Publish, downloads the app as a normal React project.
  • Publish, then Export to GitHub or Export to GitLab, pushes it as a runnable Vite and React repository.
  • For a phone project, Publish to app stores, then Native, gives you the whole project to build in Android Studio and Xcode.

On every plan, the app's data exports as SQL ready for a Supabase of your own, and Export CSV in Cloud, then Database, downloads a whole collection. See Cloud and Publish to app stores.

How do I delete an app?

Open Manage, then Settings, then Delete this app. It goes to the trash in My Projects, where you can put it back for 30 days. After that it and its uploaded files are gone.

To keep an app but take it off the web, use Take offline instead. A copy of an app is Make a copy, in Manage, then Overview. See Settings, Manage and Your projects.

How do I delete my account?

Open Settings, then Account, and go to Delete account at the bottom. Type DELETE to confirm. It deletes your account and all its data: projects, connectors, profile and uploads. A paid plan is cancelled at the same moment, and nothing more is charged. It cannot be undone, so export what you want to keep first. See Your account.

Getting help

Where do I ask for help?
  • In the app's chat, for anything about the app itself: tell Setherion what you see.
  • The Support page shows whether every part of Setherion is working right now. It leads to the guides, and lets you open a ticket and follow it under My tickets. On a paid plan it also gives a direct email address.
  • A ticket is read by a person. Say which app, what you did and what you saw.

See Getting help and the Support page.
