Publishing
Publish to app stores
Turn an app into one people install from Google Play and the App Store: the two ways there, what is checked before you send it, the screenshots, the store page and the privacy forms.
Any app you build in Setherion can also become an app people install from Google Play and the App Store. Open it in the editor, press Publish, and choose Publish to app stores.
The window that opens walks you through it in order. This page explains what each part is for, so nothing in it comes as a surprise.
The stores charge for their own accounts, not Setherion: Google Play is $25 once, the Apple developer program is $99 a year. Both review every app before it goes out.
Two ways there
The first thing the window asks is how you want to make the phone app.
| Easy | Native | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it is for | Anyone. No code. | Developers. |
| What it is | Your published app, wrapped as a phone app by PWA Builder. | A full phone project, built in Android Studio and Xcode, or by GitHub in the cloud. |
| What you need | The app published on the web first. | Node 22 and Android Studio, a Mac with Xcode for the iPhone, or a GitHub account for the cloud build. |
| Ads and in-app purchases | Not available. | Work, through Google AdMob and the stores' own purchases. |
| Plan | Every plan | Pro and up |
Easy is the right answer for most apps. Choose Native when the app shows ads or sells something inside it, or when a developer will look after the phone app.
You can switch between the two at any time with the toggle at the top of the window. The steps you have ticked are remembered for each app, in the browser you are using, so on another computer they start unticked.
On a Free plan the Native chip is marked Pro and opens its page, but downloading the project, pushing it to GitHub and the store guidelines check need a paid plan.
The Easy way on the iPhone needs a Mac with Xcode. The Native way can be built by GitHub instead: Build in the cloud. Make sure you have one of the two before you pay Apple's $99.
